University of Nebraska - Kearney

Mary RittenhouseHoused in the College of Business and Technology, the UNK Center for Economic Education shares over 20 years of UNK’s history. The Center was established in 1985 to provide a resource for K-12 teachers wanting to incorporate economics into their curriculum. The general purpose of the Center was the promotion of a better understanding of economics and our economic system through an establishment of a curriculum library and workshops to provide training for the teachers.

Today, that general purpose remains, but has evolved to more efficiently interact with the UNK community, be it the UNK students, the city of Kearney, the region of Southwest Nebraska, or a broader, more global community. The mission has expanded to include outreach programs that allow the Center to collaborate with other entities sharing the same passion.
